**************** EJECTING THIS CD-ROM ****************
We recommend that you or your child eject this disk by dragging its icon to the trash. This is the typical way that Macintosh users eject disks, and it ensures that no inactive windows or icons are left behind to confuse the user.
***** USING THE MAGNIFIER WHEN YOU ORDINARILY COULDN'T *****
ÑÑÑ If you have less than 3200 K of memory free for this game, double-clicking on the "Lost and Found" icon will start up a version of the game in which the magnifier tool is disabled. This prevents poor performance, and low memory problems.
ÑÑÑ If you have less than 3200K of memory free, and you want to use the magnifier anyway, you can manually launch the program version named "Lost & Found Mag" by scrolling the window to find it, and double-clicking on it. If you experience any problems while playing this version, you can use the regular "Lost and Found" icon.
*********** UPDATING THE NECESSARY SOFTWARE **********
Ñ This game requires QuickTime¬ version 1.6.1 or later, and Sound Manager version 3.0 or later in your Extensions folder, which is located in the System folder of your startup hard disk.
Ñ Both QuickTime¬ v2.0 and Sound Manager v3.0 are provided on this CD-ROM. Follow the steps below to check and update your versions of these extensions.
Ñ To install QuickTime¬ v2.0 and/or Sound Manager v3.0
1- Open your startup hard disk, and locate the System folder
2- Double-click the System Folder to open it, and locate the Extensions folder.
3- Open your Extensions folder, select the file 'QuickTime¬', and choose Get Info from the File menu.
4- In the Info dialog, check the Version number. If the QuickTime version number is lower than 1.6.1, drag the QuickTime file from the Extensions folder onto your desktop.
5- On your CD-ROM disk, open the folder named 'System Stuff'
6- Drag the QuickTime¬ icon into your Extensions folder.
7- Drag the 'Sound Manager' icon (if any) from your Extensions folder onto your desktop.
8- Drag the 'Sound Manager' icon from this CD's 'System Stuff' folder into your Extensions folder.
9- ****** IF YOU ARE A POWER MACINTOSH OWNER:
Drag the 'QuickTime¬ PowerPlug' icon from this CD's 'System Stuff' folder into your Extensions folder.
10- Close your Extensions folder and System Folder.
11- Now restart your computer to activate your new QuickTime¬ and Sound Manager extensions.
Ñ After restarting, you are ready to play!! Simply double-click the "Lost and Found" or the "Lost & Found 4MB" icon, and away you'll go!
Ñ After sucessfully using the software, and your system a while, you may conclude that you no longer need the older versions of QuickTime and Sound Manager. Drag these from your desktop to the trash.

Ñ TURN OFF SOME SYSTEM ITEMS, IF NECESSARY
If your machine has only 5 megabytes or RAM, turn OFF the Virtual Memory option in your system, because this game requires the use of real RAM in order to operate smoothly. Here's how to turn off virtual memory:
1- From the Apple menu, choose Control Panels.
2- In the Control Panels window, double-click the Memory icon
3- In the dialog that opens, in the Virtual Memory section, click the Off button.
Ñ RECOMMENDED:
On the typical home system, we recommend running this program with no other applications running, and with electronic mail or network functions turned off.
ÑÑÑ MEMORY-FREEING TECHNIQUES:
Check how much free RAM you have by using the 'About This Macintosh' command in the Finder.
Extensions and Control Panels such as screen savers can set aside surprisingly large amounts of memory, and may prevent this software from having enough free RAM to run.
You can reduce the number of active Extensions and Control Panels by placing them from their respective folders to newly created folders that you can title 'Extensions Disabled' and 'Control Panels Disabled'. You can then restart your Macintosh, and use the 'About This Macintosh' command to check the effects of the change on your available RAM.
